SINGLE VINEYARD
PROJEKT NOIR - 2020
The newest wine in our portfolio. The wine is made from the youngest vineyard, which has just become fruitful, which is why it was named Project Noir. Over the years when vines will become older and the wine more complex and truly reflect the Plešivica terroir, this Pinot will be integrated in one of our permanent lines. Until then, you should enjoy its fruitiness, drinkability and juiciness.
WINE DESCRIPTION
On the nose we are hit with prominent aromas of red fruits such as strawberries, cherries and raspberries, underlined with of dried herbs. The palate is extremely juicy, fruit driven, the tannins are smooth. Very drinkable, fruity Pinot noir.
WINE MAKING
The grapes were hand-harvested into 15 kg crates. Fermentation took place in 1000 L open vats with 20% whole bunch. After 20-days maceration and after pressing into stainless steel tank to ensure that ferments are dry and to perform malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 12 months in 2 and 3 year old 225 L barrique barrels. The wine is not filtered or fined.
VINTAGE 2020
The winter was fairly mild and the months of March and April were above average warm and dry. The start of growing season was early, followed by a spring frost in mid-April, which, however, spared the best vineyards. The summer was warm, with some heat waves. September was warm and dry, which had a decisive influence on the quality of the vintage. White varieties were harvested in mid-September, while red varieties at the end of September, beginning of October. The white wines of the 2020 vintage have freshness and aromatics, however bolder compared to 2019 vintage, while the red wines are elegant, with an attractive fruit and tannic charge, and well-built body.
